The Hove Arts Trail is an annual event that showcases the diverse talents of 200 local artists from various houses and workshops across Hove, England. This trail spans a wide range of mediums, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, metal, jewellery, plastics, glass, textiles, and photography. We would like to extend our gratitude to our local sponsors who are helping promote the arts in our community.
One such sponsor in the heart of Hove, a magical place exists where stories come alive and children's imaginations take flight. The Book Nook, a specialist independent children's bookshop nestled on First Avenue, is more than just a place to buy books; it's a community hub fostering a love of reading and the arts in children of all ages.
Established in 2009, The Book Nook has become an invaluable asset to the community. What sets it apart from your average bookstore is its dedication to creating a child-friendly and engaging environment. Stepping inside is like entering a whimsical world, with a cozy café perfect for enjoying a story and a treat, regular story times that captivate young minds, and exciting author events that bring stories to life. And for the truly adventurous, there's even a pirate ship to play in!
But the magic of The Book Nook goes beyond its playful atmosphere. Their core mission is to provide inspirational, inclusive, and high-quality children's books to families and schools, not just locally, but across the world. They carefully curate their selection to ensure a diverse range of stories, representing different cultures, perspectives, and experiences. This commitment to inclusivity makes The Book Nook a space where every child can find a book that resonates with them and see themselves reflected in the pages.
The Book Nook understands the importance of early literacy and the power of stories to shape young minds. They actively promote reading to children of all ages, believing that it fosters empathy, creativity, and a love of learning. Through their various programs and partnerships, they are instrumental in nurturing the next generation of avid readers and thinkers.
The Book Nook is the proud sponsor of the Hove Arts Trotters Passport for the past 5+ years, an activity designed to engage young visitors in the arts trail. Any child can participate by collecting seven stickers from seven different venues on the trail, which they can then exchange for a certificate at The Book Nook. As a reward for their efforts, participating children will receive a goodie bag and a free hot chocolate at the bookshop.
Furthermore, The Book Nook is hosting a colouring competition as part of the Hove Arts Trotters Passport. Children are invited to draw a picture of a cake on the back page of their passport and ask an adult to post it on Instagram with the tag @hove_arts. The most creative entries will be eligible to win prizes.
The Book Nook's support for the Hove Arts Trail is just one example of their dedication to promoting literacy and the arts in our community. We encourage all visitors to the arts trail to take the time to visit The Book Nook and explore their diverse collection of children's books. The bookshop's welcoming atmosphere and commitment to inspiring young readers make it an essential stop on the Hove Arts Trail.
The Hove Arts Trail is a celebration of local art and the community that supports it. With the help of sponsors like The Book Nook, we can continue to promote the arts in our community and inspire the next generation of artists and creators. So, as you explore the Hove Arts Trail this year, be sure to stop by The Book Nook, pick up a Hove Arts Trotters Passport, and discover the magic of children's literature.
