Sunday Times - Hove named one of the best places in the UK 2025

Our very own Secretary of Hove Arts - David Streeter featured in the Sunday Times article about how Hove, East Sussex, is named one of the best places to in the UK 2025


The photographer and street poet David Streeter has lived in both Brighton and Hove and has been happily settled in the latter for 20-odd years. “You can easily dip in and out of the theatre, arts and shopping in Brighton but I feel instantly more relaxed when I get back into Hove,” says Streeter, who is secretary of Hove Arts, which runs a vibrant artists trail each May featuring creatives who open their homes to showcase their work. “Hove now also has a lot of great restaurants and bars, which it lacked a few years back. I live in central Hove and within a few hundred metres can get a wide range of great cuisines — anything you can think of, from sushi to Sri Lankan.”

As much as they like their food, locals (luckily) also love to exercise, whether that’s heading for a run, sea swim or workout session on the shingle blue-flag beach of Hove Lawns; for a game of tennis at the lovely Hove Park; or out for a Sunday morning ride through the Sussex countryside with the Hove cycling club. They can try out water sports at Hove Lagoon and choose from one of the myriad yoga classes. “Basically, if you live here and don’t do yoga, what’s wrong with you?” Streeter jokes.
